Matthew Origel

Matthew Origel

Born in the United States in 2001. Since 2023, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Flute Chair with professor Jacques Zoon. He has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

He has been part of the San José Youth Symphony Philharmonic Orchestra, the Banda de Honor del Condado de Santa Clara, and the California Symphony Orchestra, finishing his university studies at the University of California and Los Angeles.

Throughout his musical training, he has studied with prestigious flute professors, such as Erin and Denis Boriakov and, previously, with Jill Heinke Moen for four years. Likewise, he has performed with renowned flutists like Jill Felber, Marianne Gedigian, Marina Piccinini, Vincent Lucas, Ransom Wilson, and Jim Walker.

In 2021, he won the San Diego Flute Guild National Competition. In 2022, he attended the Brevard Music Institute, where he performed with the College Orchestra and he studied with the flutist Amy Porter. He is also substitute flute at the New World Symphony.

As a student of the School, he is currently part of the Fundación Mutua Madrileña Ensemble.
