William Bennett: Ravel - Daphnis et Chloé, suite no. 2 (flute part) - II. Pantomime

RAVEL, Maurice

Daphnis et Chloé, suite no. 2 (Fragments symphoniques II) for orchestra (flute part)

II. Pantomime

William Bennett, guest professor

Irena Kavcic, student

About the orchestral excerpts from the Suite Daphnis et Chloé performed by the student, William Bennet makes some comments on tempo, appoggiaturas, harmony and harmonic process, etc.
The professor indicates also some phrasing issues (he shows them by singing) and he refers to this phrasing performed by Marcel Moyse.
Afterwards, he makes other comments on sound quality and color, vibrato, fingerings and articulation.
To conclude, he talks about this solo performed by Oliver Bannister, the best one in his opinion. Besides, he adds some short corrections on phrasing, dynamics, or rhythm among other musical issues.
