Tanner Menees

Born in Orange (United States) in 1993. From 2021 to 2022, he studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación BBVA Viola Chair with professor Nobuko Imai.

He has studied at the Colburn School in Los Angeles with Paul Coletti and at the New England Conservatory in Boston (United States) with Kim Kashkashian.

He has performed as soloist with the Colburn Orchestra, conducted by maestro Thierry Fischer, as well as with the New Hampshire Symphony. He has also been principal viola with the Colburn Orchestra under the baton of John Adams, Sir Neville Marriner, Robert Spano, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Edo de Waart.

He has collaborated in chamber music with artists such as Martin Beaver, Denis Bouriakov, Miriam Fried, Clive Greensmith, Lynn Harrell, Frans Helmerson, Mitsuko Uchida, Donald Weilerstein, Gary Hoffman, Hsin-Yun Huang, and Kim Kashkashian, among others.

He has participated in festivals including the Marlboro Music Festival, Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute, Chamberfest Cleveland, and Menuhin Festival String Academy. He has also taken part in tours with the ensembles Musicians from Marlboro and Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute.
