Manuel Alonso-Bartol Sánchez

Born in Salamanca (Spain) in 1999. Since 2016, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación Banco Santander Piano Chair with professor Dmitri Bashkirov. He has been granted scholarships by AIE-Sociedad de Artistas Intérpretes o Ejecutantes de España and Fundación Albéniz.

He began his music studies at the Professional Conservatory of Salamanca with Eva Poncela, graduating with an Extraordinary Prize in 2017. He has attended several courses and masterclasses by Ana Guijarro, András Kemenes, Alexander Kandelaki, José Luis Castillo, Saskya Roures, Patrin García Barredo, and Marta Zabaleta, as well as by Eldar Nebolsin, Alexander Lonquich, and Luis Fernando Pérez. He was granted the Féliz Enriquez scholarships by Sociedad Musical Linense in 2013 and 2016, as well as the Honourable Mention at the 2nd “El Diamante Musical” Young Talents International Festival. In 2016 he was also awarded second prize at the XVIII Benidorm Music Competition, in addition to first absolute prize and special prize for the best performance of Chopin’s work at the 7th “Pequeños Grandes Pianistas” International Competition in Sigüenza. In 2018 he won the Rafael Orozco award in its youth and musicality category, as well as the first prize at the 37th Marisa Montiel City of Linares Piano Competition. In 2015 he made his debut as soloist, playing Mozart’s KV414 Concerto with the orchestra of Salamanca’s Professional Conservatory under the baton of Andrés Balaguer.

As a student of the School, he has been a member of the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra during the 2019 Santander Music and Academy Encounter, conducted by Péter Eötvös. He has also been part of the Bizet Duo, the Casa de la Moneda Scarlatti Trio and the Sonorité Trio. He is currently a member of the Banco de España Arriaga Ensemble, the Mistral Trio, as well as that of the Areti Duo.
